Dog Areas in Woodbury, MN

Located in eastern Minnesota, Woodbury is a large suburb of St. Paul and the home of almost 70,000 people. Thanks to its closeness to Minneapolis, this community has lots to offer dogs and their owners, including over forty vets within ten miles.

One nontraditional (but very popular) activity is a trip to the Vali-Hi Drive-In Theater, just ten minutes northeast, in Lake Elmo, MN. Complete with concessions and an arcade, this place is pawfect for a family outing. There’s a large field on the premises for dogs to take bathroom breaks and romp around with other furry moviegoers. Human guests are welcome to bring grills and food for picnics!

Another activity is the Kaposia Landing Dog Park, which is ten minutes west, in South Saint Paul, MN. Off-leash play is welcome at this fully-fenced, 6.3-acre play area. There is a double-gate entrance on either side of the field and two shelters available if it’s hot or windy. This is a permit-only park, but the annual fee for non-St. Paul residents is a modest $30.00. Before heading home, swing by one of several dog-friendly restaurants in Woodbury including Craft Beer and Kitchen, Lakes Tavern and Grill, and Keys Cafe.

Woodbury is a beautiful community with tons to offer dogs and their families both within the suburb and in its surrounding areas. Get exploring!

After you're done exploring Saint Paul and Woodbury's surrounding areas, head back into town for some off-leash fun at Andy's Bark Park on Dale Road. This is a free, off-leash dog park where your pup can run and romp as much as he likes. You will need to keep an eye on your pooch, though, because the park is not fully fenced in. There are several walking trails throughout the park, along with a wooded area and a prairie area for your pooch to explore. White Bear Lake is located about 15 miles northwest of Woodbury, and it's a great place for you and your pooch to enjoy a day in the sun! The White Bear Dog Beach is located here, and your pup can splash in the shallow water as long as they don’t cross over to the public side of the beach. The beach is sandy, with a few rocks near the entrance to the water. If you want to, you can wade or swim in the surf with your pup. Remember to bring water and an umbrella for shade since it can get hot at the beach. Also, bring some clean-up baggies for your pooch since they aren’t provided.
