Woodrow is located on the South Shore of Staten Island in NYC. The town was founded in the 1700's and the first Methodist church in the greater New York area opened its doors in Woodrow in 1711. It is no surprise that building is registered with the National Registry of Historic Places.  Can you imagine walking inside that building and taking it all in - you are standing in the same place someone, maybe someone much like yourself, stood some 300 years ago. Did you know that Woodrow was also a stop on Underground Railroad?  Woodrow is a great place for history buffs--and their dogs! If you and your pooch are looking for a great spot to explore, grab that leash and come on over to Woodrow. This place is truly representative of America - hard working people putting down roots in a great town! Woodrow is waiting for you and your furry little family members to come and play.

The neighborhood of Woodrow is safe, clean and full of scenic beauty as far as the eye can see.  The sidewalks are paved concrete, the streets are black asphalt and are surrounded by moderately priced to higher end real estate. While you and your dog walk through the neighborhood, you will also see many row houses, restaurants, and local businesses as well. Be sure to help keep Woodrow beautiful and clean up after your dog while you explore the city streets. Most residents travel in and out of the city by either the famous Staten Island Ferry, the bus, or some even ride their bike. The area is known as being one of the more modern in the area, but if you look hard enough, you will find a piece of history in the form of a historic church, school or cemetery.

Just a few miles away from Woodrow, you and your pup will want to check out Wolfe's Pond Park located at 420 Cornelia Avenue in Staten Island. Be sure your dog is leashed while inside the park and always be a good paw parent and clean up after your pup.  This is more than a park - it is also known as a wildlife and plant preserve. There are many walking trails, but be sure to share the road with fellow walkers and runners. Your dog is allowed to be off-leash only inside the designated off-leash areas of the park. Wolfe's Pond also has a beach - your pup is permitted on the sand only from October through May, but your leashed pup is welcome to walk by your side on the boardwalk and promenade.  Come on Fido and Fifi - let's go play!
