The Washita Valley Nature Park in Pauls Valley is just nine miles north of Wynnewood and a nice spot for a walk with your pup. The park’s walking trail takes you through the woods, over a little bridge and around the grassed area. Your pup will love sniffing his way along the trail and enjoying the greenery with you, but keep him on a leash here. There are benches to rest on and a swing set for the kids to enjoy here too. Bring water for you both and a drinking bowl for your pup, as well as waste disposal bags. It is wise to pack some bug spray in summer.

North West Pauls Valley
The Paws Valley Dog Park is the perfect place to bring your pup for some much-needed off-leash time, and is located just 10 miles north of Wynnewood in the town of Pauls Valley. Your pooch will love running around in this one-acre fenced park and enjoying socializing with new friends, testing his skills on the agility equipment, or simply taking off for a run on the open space. There is plenty of shade here for you and benches to sit at while you supervise your buddy. The dog park is adjacent to Wacker Park, a great community park where you and your pet can take a walk together on the track or spend some time with the family. This park has a playground, ball fields, tennis courts, a volleyball court and many more recreation opportunities, all centered around a beautiful rose garden and water feature.24
Elmore City
West of Wynnewood is the town of Elmore City, which has a lovely park around the lake to visit. The Elmore City Park has lots of open space for playing with your pup, or spread out a picnic lunch under the shady trees and enjoy the view over the lake together. The park also has BBQ facilities if you would like to cook up a storm on your excursion. There are benches to sit at and a small playground for the kids to enjoy as well. South of Wynnewood in nearby Davis is Cross Bar Ranch, a massive expanse of space ideal for some trail walking with your pup. With over 100 miles of tracks through the area, you aren’t short on options either! Dogs are permitted here, but it is wise to keep your pooch leashed for his safety as it is also a popular OTV area. Keep alert for approaching vehicles and stick to the trails at all times. The tracks vary in difficulty and some cover rocky terrain, so wear appropriate footwear and bring waste disposal bags and water for you both. There are restrooms at the Crossbar Ranch parking area, and campsites if you are keen to stay a little longer.0
Sulphur
The town of Sulphur is southeast of Wynnewood about 20 miles and has many pet-friendly activities to enjoy. The Vendome Well and Flower Garden is one stop worth making, featuring a manmade creek with 2,500 gallons of water a minute flowing through into the Travertine Creek. There is a pleasant half-mile paved trail around here to take your pooch on a little on-lead walk. Just south of the well is Veterans Lake, where there is a longer 2.8-mile trail to explore around the lake. Close by is the 1.9-mile Bison Pasture Trail which is of moderate difficulty, but offers a very scenic walk through the woodlands.
