Crestview is located in the northwest part of Bentonville, Arkansas, and is a quiet, residential neighborhood with high-character homes along a “U” shaped road with no thru traffic. There is a shopping and commercial district directly west of Crestview, which includes a Walmart and several businesses providing shopping and various services. The All Pets Animal Hospital is just a few blocks to the southwest to meet any veterinary needs. If you take a long walk, or a short drive to the southeast, you can visit Three Dogs Bakery. This unique doggie bakery creates delicious baked canine concoctions and provides pet supplies for your precious pooch.
This area has a warm, humid, climate, although it does experience all four seasons, winter is usually relatively mild, with cold air masses moderated by the nearby Ozark Mountains. In the summer, conditions can be very hot and humid. You and your dog should be prepared for hot summer weather by taking water with you and planning shady breaks when necessary. In chilly winter weather, you will need a jacket, but it is usually relatively sunny, so walks are still enjoyable and visibility good.
Crestview is a well developed, older neighborhood, with mature landscaping and trees. There are no sidewalks or fenced front yards in the residential area, so be sure to keep your dog leashed and off neighborhood lawns and away from traffic. Fortunately, this private neighborhood has no thru traffic, and local residents are usually aware of dogs, children, and pedestrians. You will still have to be careful of traffic, however, whenever separate pedestrian paths are not present. The homes in this area are unique, with many brick homes and beautiful yards and gardens to admire. Large mature shade trees and flat terrain keep walks in this neighborhood cool and easy, especially in the hot summer months. Nearby businesses, restaurants, and stores provide excellent destinations to walk to with your dog. Take along a friend or family member and you can visit businesses while you and your companion take turns supervising Fido and frequenting shops.
Bogle park is just southeast of the Crestview area and features shade trees, bountiful flower beds, and a beautiful, picturesque gazebo providing a great resting spot and seating on a hot summer day. In fact, Bentonville has 300 acres of green spaces, and parks, which include 50 miles of trails, so if you can't walk to a park directly, you can drive there and explore. The largest park is 132-acre Bella Vista Lake Park, which is dog-friendly and has a lake and well-developed trail system. With all the trees in the residential area of Crestview, taking a walk through the neighborhood is like a walk through a park, but with all the nearby park options--both within walking distance or short driving distances--there is no shortage of green space adventures for you and you canine hiker to check out. Remember to pack out what you pack in to keep the plentiful parks of Bentonville looking their best, this includes any “gifts” your pooch might leave behind.
