Enendale is mostly hilly and is well-known for its famous public stairways. There are over two-dozen of them in all. Some are just a few steps up while others boast more than 200 steps. Be sure you and your pup are up for the challenge as this area can be a little tricky for elderly dogs. The views will be well worth all those steps, however. The Baxter stairs, all 230 of them, are located across the street from Elysian Park and are the tallest in the city. The first stairways were originally made of wood and began springing up in the 1890s.  The stairways help residents and visitors traverse the hills and get around this beautiful city.  Make sure your shoelaces are tied tight and that your pup has had plenty of water and is ready to climb your way to the top!  It will be well worth the climb.

After climbing all those stairways and exploring the city, you and your pooch need a much-deserved timeout. Head to Elysian Park for a bit of a break. We guarantee that you will find the perfect spot to take a break within its 575 acres. Within that vast area, you and your pup will see well-maintained green spaces, trees, flora and fauna, small wildlife. After catching your breath and re-hydrating, you and your leashed pup can stroll past the Chavez Ravine Arbetoreum along the shade of the Avenue of the Palms. There are many more miles of walking trails and opportunities to experience wildlife and nature at your own pace. If you packed your lunch, put down your blanket, and share some grub with your furry friend. These areas are generally unfenced, so you'll want to keep your dog close to your side and be courteous to other area pedestrians.
