Glassell Park is a small, residential neighborhood located in northeast Los Angeles, California. It is roughly six miles from the city's downtown area. Like many Los Angeles neighborhoods, Glassell Park is located in the San Rafael Hills mountain range. There are few commercial spaces located in this neighborhood, but you will find a nationally-known grocery store, a bar, a recreation center, an elementary school, and only a handful of restaurants.

A lesser known tourist attraction is also located in Glassell Park. Done in the style of the iconic Hollywood sign, you will find the "Glassellland" sign overlooking the northern part of this neighborhood, off of Kinney Street. Residentially, most of Glassell Park is comprised of standalone, single-family homes. Many of these homes are tucked away on hilly and windy roads.

Fido will be taken care of in this neighborhood as there are several groomers and local dog trainers in the immediate area!

As it is located in the San Rafael Hills mountain range, Glassell Park is quite hilly. You and Fido will certainly get your workout in if you go exploring around this neighborhood. However, because it is such a hilly area, it lends itself to being a good balance of artificial and natural environment. There are plenty of built up areas, but the streets twist and turn with the hills and there are plenty of more natural, open spaces between residences. However, very few areas have sidewalks and, with the added danger of the winding roads, you and Fido should also be careful and aware of your surroundings, particularly when coming around corners.

Glassell Park is bordered by Glendale to the north, Eagle Rock and Occidental College to the east, Elysian Valley to the south, and Atwater Village to the west. Eagle Rock Boulevard and Division Street are the two major roadways that go through this neighborhood.

Unfortunately, there is only one greenway in Glassell Park. The Glassell Park Recreation Center Complex is home to a park and playground, a swimming pool, a child care center, and some general recreation areas. Thankfully, even though there is only one greenway in the neighborhood, there are several in the surrounding areas. The closest greenways to Glassell Park are Elyria Canyon Park and Rio De Los Angeles State Park. Elyria Canyon Park is a natural greenway with plenty of walking and hiking trails. Rio De Los Angeles State Park also has hiking trails, as well as a playground, a general recreation area, and public restrooms.

Other nearby parks include Moon Canyon Park, Sycamore Grove Park, Marsh Street Nature Park, Juntos Family Park, Elysian Park, and Ernest E. Debs Regional Park. Elysian Park, and Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, the largest greenways on this list, are also both home to dog parks, in case Fido is itching for some off-leash time.
