Highland Park is a historic community located in northeast Los Angeles. As one of the first established subdivisions in the city, Highland Park is well-known for some beautiful Victorian mansions and is starting to attract artists and trendy entrepreneurs alike. From hipster coffee shops and antique stores to gourmet restaurants, there's something for everyone in Highland Park. Even better, the Metro's Gold Light rail station in the middle of the community makes it easy for travelers of all sorts to get to and from downtown Los Angeles.

Known to some as Brooklyn, New York's Californian sister neighborhood, Highland Park features quiet streets with quaint houses, plenty of small stores to explore, and green parks scattered throughout the area. There are two pet groomers along North Figueroa Street: Pet Grooming With Love and Groom to Bloom Pet Salon. There's plenty to explore throughout the area, but North Figueroa Street and York Boulevard are where you'll find most of the small shops.

Highland Park is a very scenic neighborhood perfect for the curious human and their furry companions. Discover historic homes and lush greenery as you stroll through this large, 3-mile-long neighborhood. As with most Los Angeles neighborhoods, there will be some hills, but it won't be anything you or your pooch can't handle. The major roads are flatter if you want an easier walk, but be cautious of the cars zooming by.

The neighborhood offers a beautiful combination of city life and outdoor adventures. There's greenery all around, from tree-lined streets to the walking paths of Hermon Park. You definitely won't be missing out on nature while you're out and about in Highland Park. The neighborhood is bordered by the Arroyo Seco Parkway, and while you have to cross over it to get to parts of different parks, watch your pet as the loud cars may be distracting or frightening.

There is so much green space to explore in Highland Park that you'll probably encounter a park without trying. The community offers easy access to Ernest E. Debbs Regional Park which is a vast hiking and picnic area just south of Highland Park. In the middle of the neighborhood on Meridian Street is Garvanza Park: a lush green space that features an enclosed area exclusive for some leash-free doggy fun.

Hermon Park, also known as Arroyo Seco Park, is a quiet shaded area with a playground, courts, and picnic areas. Right next door is Hermon Dog Park, and while there isn't any grass in the dog park, it's the perfect spot to let your pooch run free and make new friends. Further north by Arroyo Park and just outside Highland Park's neighborhood limits is South Pawsadena Dog Park. This dog park features some agility courses for your dog to play around on. As a pet owner, you have plenty of options.
