Pet owners can access the 4 Paws Animal Hospital and a large chain pet store on north east side commercial area for veterinary services or pet supplies. Numerous greenways and greenway trails also provide walking locations in the community.
San Diego’s warm, sunny weather makes walking possible most days of the year. Wet and cold weather is rare. Hot weather is more of a factor and, when the temperature rises, you and your dog may want to take shorter walks at cooler times of the day and ensure that you and your pet stay well hydrated.
There are high-end homes that border onto the golf course and two main subdivisions in the community with Santaluz on the south side and Del Sur on the northside. Dwellings in the area are single-family homes on well landscaped and maintained properties. Elevation changes in the residential area are less abrupt with gently curving roads that follow the landscape. Sidewalks are prevalent in the community and provide separate walkways for people and pups.
Black Mountain Ranch canines and their owners can enjoy the many community and neighborhood parks, natural spaces, and greenway trails located in the district. Neighborhood parks include South Village Neighborhood Park, Jacqueline Park, Village Green Park, Trent Park, Verrazano South Park, and Mel Driscoll Memorial Park. These greenways are well distributed and usually have open lawns, some trees, playgrounds, walking paths, and other recreational amenities to enjoy with your dog.
Along Paseo Del Sur, there is a local dog park where your playful pup can enjoy off-leash activity. The Wolverine Trailhead Valleyview is located near Old Stone Park and extends into the natural canyons that are located in the community.
Extending into the neighborhood and to the southeast is the miles of trails and acres of wilderness that comprise the Black Mountain Open Space Park. The summit of the mountain provides spectacular views to share on hikes in this preserve with your furry friend.
