Mira Mesa is bordered by Interstate 15 on its east side, Interstate 805 on the west, the Los Peñasquitos Canyon on the north, and the Miramar district with an air station on the south side. The area consists of some main commercial corridors and many suburban residential areas.

Dwellings in the area are mostly single-family, detached homes. Structures tend to be closely set and single-story bungalow or ranch style houses on well landscaped and maintained properties. The terrain is flat and there are no steep hills to climb while walking with your pup. There are even separate pedestrian sidewalks along streets so you don't have to share roads with local traffic.

Many of the thoroughfares in the neighborhood are heavily trafficked and there are freeways in the area and on the borders. Use designated pedestrian crossings only to cross busy streets and keep your dog securely leashed.
