Inner Sunset is located just south of Golden Gate Park's gardens and museums. The neighborhood is renown for its cozy cafes, dark watering holes, and fantastic Mexican restaurants. It is an affluent neighborhood, much loved by its residents and it is certainly not hard to see why! You and your pup are sure to love mooching around these streets.
The neighboorhood encompasses Forest Knolls which makes up its eastern side, just south of the University of California San Francisco campus. The area is also home to the Laguna Honda Reservoir and Golden Gate Heights. There is so much for you and your pup to explore! Inner Sunset offers a wide range of walking opportunities from challenging hikes to forest walks. It is the perfect playground for your pooch.
Inner Sunset makes up part of The Sunset District which is one of the largest neighborhoods in the city. It is a lovely part of San Francisco.
The terrain in the Inner Sunset neighborhood is varied. Golden Gate Heights is particularly hilly. It is located just south of the Inner Sunset and northwest of Forest Hill. The neighborhood has three lovely parks. Grand View Park is located on the northern side of Golden Gate Heights and Golden Gate Heights Park and Hawk Hill Park are located on its southern side. All three are fantastic spots to take your pup, as many others come to the area just to hike. The area is a great place to take them for some really good exercise. You and your pup are sure to have lots of great adventures here!
The Inner Sunset neighborhood also offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean which lies to its west. The area is mostly made up of residential housing, most of which boast spectacular ocean views. It strikes a lovely balance between urban living and accessible nature.
The neighborhood's biggest green space is the Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve which is located in the Forest Hills neighborhood. It is built on the southwestern side of Mount Sutro, near the UCSF campus. The forest is lush, well-tended to, and your pup is sure to find an abundance of sticks perfect for a game of throw and fetch. The forest offers lovely hiking and makes for the perfect escape from city life.
The neighborhood also has a number of great parks including Grand View Park, Golden Gate Heights Park, and Rocky Outcrop Park. These areas offer hiking trails with spectacular views of the city and sea.
Just north of Inner Sunset is Golden Gate Park. This is a wonderful park totaling 1000 acres. It is an oasis that draws hikers, bikes, art lovers, dog walkers, and music fans. The park encompasses a polo field, golf course, paddock, Huntington Falls, and much more!
