North Waterfront is a small, tourist-heavy, commercial neighborhood in San Francisco, California. There are a few apartment complexes and single-family homes more inland, but the waterfront property is largely commercial. Popular tourist attractions in North Waterfront include Fisherman's Wharf and the Sea Lion Center, ferry access to Alcatraz and Angel Island, and the Exploratorium: an interactive science museum. The neighborhood is also home to plenty of local and chain restaurants and is an especially great place to get San Francisco's famous clam chowder in a bread bowl!

San Francisco has a mild climate, meaning you and your pup won't have to worry about extreme cold or hot temperatures! Additionally, you will likely have a cool, dry day as most of the city's rainfall happens during the winter months. In this specific neighborhood, you may even catch a nice, cool breeze coming off the San Francisco Bay and Pacific Ocean.

Unlike the rest of San Francisco, North Waterfront is actually relatively flat, largely in part to its proximity to the coast of the San Francisco Bay. The further inland you walk, you will start to experience slight inclines, especially because this neighborhood is so close to Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower. This will make your daily walk leisurely and without too many strenuous hills to overcome! North Waterfront is also a largely artificial neighborhood with plenty of commercial and residential spaces taking up space. The access to the coast of San Francisco Bay, the views of the Bay and surrounding neighborhoods, and the sound of the water, however, make this neighborhood feel not too urban and much more enjoyable for an outing with your pup at your side.

The boundaries of this neighborhood include the San Francisco Bay to the north and east, and Broadway, Bay Street, and Lombard Street to the south.

There are only a few greenways in North Waterfront, but there is also access to plenty of other greenways in the nearby neighborhoods. The local parks include the Sea Wall Lot, Waterfront Plaza, and a small, unnamed public park on the waterfront. Unfortunately, none of these parks have off-leash areas for your pup to enjoy, so your dog will need to remain leashed at all times. Most of the walking trails will also be paved and still have quite an urban-feel.

Nearby parks within walking distance of North Waterfront include Chestnut and Kearny Open Space, Jack Early Park, Pioneer Park, Sydney G. Walton Square, and Sue Bierman Park. Most of these parks will have a playground, walking trails, and general recreation areas. However, there are no off-leash areas in these parks either. The nearest dog park is Rincon Hill Dog Park which is roughly 1.5 miles away from the southern part of North Waterfront.
