The neighborhood was one of the first master-planned communities built in the city. It is a small area, consisting of just 36 plots, nestled between Golden Gate and Mountain Lake Parks. Once the golf courses have been navigated, the parks are great places to take your pup to stretch his legs. The parks themselves are bordered by a plethora of secluded beaches, providing additional dog walking opportunities. The community is populated by passionate dog owners and the neighbourhood’s amenities seek to cater for their needs.
San Francisco’s mild climate provides great walking conditions year round.
Presidio Terrace is an affluent residential area. The city spans some forty hills, providing many scenic walking opportunities. The area occupies the tip of a peninsula halfway up the Northern Californian coast, surrounded on three sides by bodies of water, and boasts spectacular sea views. The hilly terrain can put both you and your dog through your paces but will whip you into shape in no time but can present a bit of a challenge for inexperienced hikers. The area is flocked to by the residents of the densely populated San Francisco city centre.
Presidio Terrace is a great area for those that are looking for somewhere secluded and safe while also offering varied walking opportunities. Your pooch can enjoy plush parks, quiet residential streets, and secure residential facilities. Not to mention a multitude of beaches including Crissy Field beach, Baker Beach, and Lands End Beach which both provide off-leash walking opportunities.
The first and foremost greenway is Mountain Lake Park. This fourteen-acre park boasts a multitude of amenities including tennis courts and, nestled closer to the lake shore, a half basketball court. The sand-floor playground is great at keeping young ones amused while adults can enjoy the picnic pavilion. The park is beloved by dog walkers, many of whom are avid participants in the dog run which takes place in the park’s most easterly point. There is also a dog play area which sits just off the nature trails in the park’s peripheries. The wood-chip covered dale is a generous space for dogs to play fetch whilst owners catch up and relax in the shade.
In addition to the above, and just a bit further afield, lies Golden State Park. The expansive green haven is the city’s largest and most popular park. Visitors can find four off-leash runs in which dogs can play.
