Most of the walking trails in the Sea Cliff neighborhood are wide and landscaped. You'll find a mixture of paved pathways and well-maintained gravel roads. Be prepared for some uneven paths and walkways as you will be traveling along coastal terrain. There are miles and miles of trails you can follow and connect so you can mix in cultural heritage sites along with stunning viewpoints on your dog walk.

The elevation gain can also vary greatly depending on where you go. Sea Cliff is located along a set of jagged cliffs above the ocean, so the terrain naturally rises and falls along these features. It's easy to put together a dog walk with rolling terrain that will tire out your dog and match your own energy and fitness level. Make sure you keep your dog on a leash while hiking through the Sea Cliffs neighborhood and on all trails—and pick up after him.

One of the most popular hikes in San Francisco is located in the Sea Cliff neighborhood, and it's one you can't miss if you are in the area. The Lands End Trail located in the Golden Gate Recreation Area offers well-maintained trails, beautiful vistas, historical and cultural sites, and plenty of rolling terrain to keep you and your dog interested, excited, and tired. The trail is about four miles long and has about 300 - 400 feet of elevation gain if you explore all the off-shoots, which is highly recommended.

Along this trail you'll get unique views of the Golden Gate bridge and the city of San Francisco as well as several lighthouses that guard ships from the rocky cliffs. You can also see the remains of several shipwrecks that were not lucky enough to escape the cliffs. Each set of steps you and your dog climb and every new corner will bring another incredible view.
