Mid-Market, which also contains a development called 'The Hub', is a small neighborhood in eastern San Francisco. It is located right alongside one of the most popular drags in San Francisco, Market Street, and it is home to a variety of businesses, condominiums, and restaurants. Due to its location in a more bustling part of the city and the architecture in the neighborhood, it has a distinctly more urban feel than the Victorian neighborhoods and rolling hills that many people think of when they picture San Francisco.

The climate of San Francisco is unique with temperatures unlikely to break out of the 55 to 65-degree range year round. The city is located right on the bay which causes it to be a windy place regardless of the season. If you decide to go for a walk on a cold, windy day, make sure to take the proper precautions for you and your dog.

San Francisco is a famously hilly city, known for its steep inclines and drastic changes in elevation. However, Mid-Market has some of the mildest terrain in the whole city. It is relatively flat and, due to the small size of the area, it stays this way in every part of the neighborhood. If you venture out farther to the west, south, or north, you will begin to encounter more of the San Francisco terrain that you might expect.

Mid-Market is one of the most bustling areas of town and the most reminiscent of a stereotypical city like New York or Los Angeles. The roads are always busy with foot and street traffic, and it is a popular destination for dining and shopping. It will help to stick to the quieter parts of the neighborhood when walking your dog around the normal rush hour times in order to avoid the heavier traffic.

Mid-Market is one of the least green parts of the city and because of that, there are no parks or greenways within the bounds of the neighborhood. However, if you venture outside of Mid-Market to the north or south, you can find many green areas for dog walking. Just a few blocks southeast of the neighborhood is Gene Friend Recreation Center which is a 1-acre park that has indoor athletic facilities as well as an outdoor playground, basketball court, and open green space.

Across Folsom Street from Gene Friend Park is Victoria Manalo Draves Park which is a larger park that is friendlier to dogs. It has many of the same facilities as Gene Friend, but it stretches for 2 acres and also has a large grassy field. There are also a couple of smaller park options to the north of Mid-Market, but some of the best parks and greenways are farther west in San Francisco.
