Located on Adams Avenue and two blocks from the beach, the Beachside Townhomes First is part of a large townhome community with a mixture of year-round, vacation, and seasonal residents. The community is one block from the Cape View Elementary School and Cherie Down Park which leads to the beach. The neighborhood is relatively quiet and well-kept and, thanks to the sidewalks, is a safe place for you to take your dog for their daily walks.

The only thing missing within walking distance is anything in the way of stores for you to pick up supplies. However, there is a Publix Supermarket and shopping center five minutes south on Astronaut Boulevard where you can fill the pantry and stock up on many top brands of dog food. If you continue south for another five minutes, you will arrive at the causeway where there is a Winn-Dixie shopping center and access to the stores on Merritt Island.

One of the advantages of living on this side of town is that you don't have to deal with much of the traffic generated by the cruise line ports to the north. This being said, the area still sees a significant amount of traffic during the day. However, if you get out before rush hour or between the two busier points of the day, you and your dog should be able to enjoy a relatively quiet walk along the sidewalks all around you. The flat terrain makes it an enjoyable experience for pups of all ability levels.

Do keep in mind that this is a family neighborhood, which means plenty of pedestrians which tend to crowd certain areas during the day. By keeping your dog on a short leash and ensuring that you pay close attention to their tolerance for strangers, you can ensure that your adventure through this area is safe and enjoyable.

Cherie Down Park is the closest dog-friendly green space and it's only two blocks to the east. This is an ample open space where the two of you can run around, offering access to the beach for the human members of your family. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed to be on the sand itself, so you'll need to find an alternative.

A drive of fewer than fifteen minutes to the south on A1A will bring you to the nearest dog park. This is the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park where there are separate off-leash areas for small and large dogs. Each area has plenty of seating, shade, and a water hose to give your dog a drink on those hot, muggy afternoons.

In the same parking lot, there is direct access to Cocoa Beach via a short trail for everyone to use. Dogs are welcome on most areas of Cocoa Beach which means you can walk along the surf for as many miles as you can handle!
