The Marbella Townhomes can be found on the corner of Adams and Magnolia Avenues, putting you almost dead center on this part of the peninsula. Living here, you can be on the beach in less than ten minutes by foot, but you will have to leave your pooch at home as dogs are not allowed on the coast in Cape Canaveral.

Astronaut Boulevard, also known as A1A, is three minutes to the east by car and is home to a variety of small stores, bars, gas stations, and restaurants. However, the further south you go, the more stores you will come across.

One of the saving graces of living here when you can't take your dog for walks on the beach is that the city passed an ordinance that allows pups in all city parks as long as they are on a leash! There are two parks within a few blocks of Marbella Townhomes and others within a short drive.

The Marbella Townhomes sit in a bustling area, housing a mixture of locals and tourists. The traffic here is not just busy. It often includes people who are new to the area and are paying far more attention to finding where they are going than to you and your dog. Many of the residential streets do have sidewalks with grass berms for the two of you to use, but in those areas without, you'll need to pay close attention to the traffic around you.

Along with vehicular traffic, there will be school buses during the school year, plenty of tourists going to and from the beach, and tons of other pedestrians. No matter how well-trained your dog is and how good they are with people, a crowd of strangers can certainly cause stress. By keeping your dog on a short leash, you can make each encounter safe and fun for anyone you come across.

The only sad part of living in Cape Canaveral is that you cannot take your pup out on the beach where the two of you could walk for miles in the sand. Luckily, the city did pass an ordinance allowing dogs on leashes in all city parks. There are several small parks scattered around this neighborhood, all of which offer at least some room for you and your pooch to run around. For those with smaller dogs, they might be more than enough. However, if you have a large breed dog, you may find most of them come up short.

If you like the idea of letting your pup run around off-leash, the Public Dog Park on Ridgewood in Cocoa Beach is only ten minutes to the south. The park offers two separate fenced-in areas for large and small breeds. Each section has water for the dogs and plenty of shade, kiddie pools during the hot months, and plenty of seating for the two-legged visitors!
