It seems that Cape Canaveral is home to many townhome communities of which Tierra De Maria is just one at the corner of Pierce and Orange Avenues. From here, you are midway between the two main north-south roads on this side of town: North Ridgewood and North Atlantic Avenues. It also puts you within walking distance of the beach which is great for everyone in the family except for the one with the cold, wet nose as city ordinances don't allow our canine companions.
The one thing you won't find much of in the immediate vicinity are opportunities to go shopping. There are a few restaurants and convenience stores, but for groceries, there is Publix Supermarket to the west on A1A or you can go down to the West Cocoa Beach Causeway. Here, you will find the central shopping district in town. The Merritt Island Mall and the nearest Walmart Supercenter are even a short drive on the causeway and over the Banana River.

The townhomes of Tierra De Maria are in a moderately tranquil residential area with modest traffic during the morning and evening rush hours. The rest of the day, there will still be some traffic as people come and go, but the streets do have sidewalks for you and your pup to use on your daily walks that will help keep you separated from the traffic. The grass berms are sure to keep your pooch happy as they are much cooler to walk on during the warmer months of the year.
With so many residential blocks to choose from, you can keep your walks away from North Atlantic and North Ridgewood where the traffic tends to be heavy during the day. The sanctuary covers more than 430 acres and offers several small trails for the two of you to explore. There is also one long trail that runs along the top of the man made waterway that works with the numerous canals to control mosquitoes.
If you prefer an off-leash dog park, the nearest one is the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park. It's only a ten to fifteen-minute drive, depending on traffic, but offers 32,000 square feet of space for your dog to enjoy!
