The Del Real Townhouses is residential area of single-family houses surrounded by townhomes. Having a home here includes being in a double cul-de-sac where the only traffic you are likely to see is from residents. This makes for a quiet place to live, raise a family, and have a family dog! There are a few homes along South Brevard Avenue and South 4th Street that are likely to have more noise and traffic to deal with as South Brevard tends to be a bustling street all day long.

When you need supplies, there are few shops three blocks to the north along the Minuteman Causeway and a Publix Supermarket within less than ten minutes. Here, you can buy most of the essential supplies along with food and treats for your dog. If you need more than this, the West Cocoa Beach Causeway has many more stores and shopping centers to check out or you can cross the river into Merritt Island where there is a Walmart and a mall.

Within the cul-de-sacs, there are sidewalks on both sides of the street for you and your dog to walk on and very little traffic during the day. Rush hours here are counted in minutes, making it easy to avoid walking during them. The sidewalks go out to South Brevard Avenue, where the two of you can choose to cross the street into the residential neighborhoods or you can go south and turn right to walk through the various neighborhoods there.

Given that South Brevard and 4th Street tend to be bustling during the day, you might be better off making use of the other neighborhoods for your walks. Doing so will make your walks less stressful and allow you to stay away from the traffic while taking advantage of the flat terrain and lack of any real hills to trek up or down. Try to stick to those neighborhoods where sidewalks are present as they add an extra layer of safety.

The nearest park is across South 4th and to the west one block. If you're driving, you have to go south on Sunrise Drive and west on Ramp Road. The park covers a large area and offers a walking track, playground, tennis courts, and lots of grass for you and your dog to run around on.

The other option, and one you both might enjoy, is only a twenty-minute walk to the east. What better place is there to go for a walk with your favorite four-legged friend than the beach itself? You can walk for miles along the sand between 4th Street and Murkshe Park. The beach is open to dogs in the morning and in the late afternoon, but during the summer, you should get out there early in the morning before the sun gets too high and the temperatures begin to climb.
