Forest Isles South is a cul-de-sac community just off of South Brevard Avenue where only some of the houses are on the waterfront. The homes are upscale, single-family houses with shaded yards. They even have docks and can take their boats directly out into the Banana River. While the neighborhood itself feels relatively secluded, in reality, it's part of a much larger residential area built on man made canals.

Shopping amenities are no more than five minutes north on South Brevard Avenue where you will find a couple of grocery stores, a few small businesses, and the Cocoa Beach city offices and the fire and police departments. If you can't find what you need here, you can head further north to the West Cocoa Beach Causeway where you will find a Winn-Dixie supermarket. In this store, you can buy the groceries your family needs and a selection of premium dog foods and treats for your pooch.

Within the cul-de-sac, there aren't any sidewalks for you and your dog to use for your daily walks. This leaves you with nothing but the roads to walk on, which means you need to take extra precautions such as using a short leash and avoiding those times of day when your neighbors are heading to work or coming home in the evening. One street over on Colonial Drive, there are sidewalks, if you're looking to play it a little safer.

The one thing you will most likely have to deal with is children at play in the area. This is a family-oriented community,  so be prepared. Most children can't resist the urge to pet a puppy whenever they get a chance! Although stopping for this might take up a little of your walk time, if you handle it right, it can be a great experience for everyone.

Enjoy the flat sidewalks in this area which make it much easier for pups of all mobility levels to get out and about.

You and your dog can walk south on Colonial Drive to the Ramp Road Park on the south side of South 4th Street. This park has a lot to offer for everyone in your family! There are two playgrounds, a tennis court, and three basketball courts along with public restrooms. However, to your dog, the most important thing is that the park has vast areas of grass for the two of you to run around on. Be sure you keep your pooch on a leash and clean up any messes they make!

If you don't mind the walk, it's less than twenty minutes to the beach along South 2nd Street. In Cocoa Beach, dogs have their own special times when they are permitted to be on the sand. These are from 6 to 10 AM and 5 to 7 PM. Remember that the sand can get pretty hot during the summer, so try to avoid that midday heat.
