Holiday Estates is a small residential neighborhood sitting on a canal that leads to the Banana River. Half of the homes sit on the waterfront while the other half are landlocked. Those who are lucky enough to have a home on the waterfront have private docks for boats and fishing. The community sits on Holiday Lane, a cul-de-sac that connects with North Atlantic Avenue on its eastern end.

When you need groceries for yourself or your hound, there is a Publix supermarket less than a five-minute drive to the north. Less than ten minutes to the north, you will find the City Center which houses the city offices and the police and fire departments. There are a couple of local grocery stores and several restaurants for you and your family to enjoy when no one feels like cooking or when you are looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite of food during the day.

Holiday Lane is a cul-de-sac which automatically puts a limit on the amount of daily traffic you and your dog must deal with. The only times you are likely to see many vehicles is in the morning as people head off to work and when they return. During the school year, the school buses also run through twice a day.

The good news is that there is a flat sidewalk with no real hills that runs along both sides of Holiday Lane for you and your pooch to use instead of walking in the street. If you take your walks out to A1A, the traffic tends to be more significant as this is the main coastal highway running from the Georgia state line to the tip of Key West. Care should be used when walking your dog along the highway and you should always have them on a short leash for added control and safety.

You are across the highway and one block south from the public dog park. The park covers approximately 3/4ths of an acre inside Lori Wilson Park and has two fenced areas for dogs where they are allowed to play off-leash. There is one area for small breeds and one for the bigger guys. There are also water hoses for thirsty pups and plenty of plastic chairs to take a break.

From the dog park, you and your dog can use the path that takes you down to the beach. The coastal regions in Cocoa Beach permit dogs during a few select hours, so keep this in mind if visiting the sand and surf. Be sure to keep your dog on a leash while you are on the beach and utilize the provided pet waste stations to help keep the beaches clean. Luckily, the dog-friendly hours should be great for keeping your pup out of the midday sun.
