Cocoa Villas is a small neighborhood of single-family homes and townhouses along SR-524, next door to the Eastern Florida State College Fred Gay Golf Academy. There are two cul-de-sacs, East and West Malory Court, divided by Lance Boulevard. Whether you live in one of the townhouses or family homes, there should be plenty of room in your backyard for a family dog, even if you happen to have a pool back there.

You couldn't get much closer to shopping if you tried. If you turn left coming out of the neighborhood, it's a short drive to the nearest Publix supermarket where you will find food for everyone in the family, including the pooch. Keep going a little further and there is the easily accessible Walmart Supercenter. Here, you can finish most of your shopping! There is even a post office across from the Publix and at least three restaurants available for you to visit.

The streets on both sides of Cocoa Villas have sidewalks the two of you can use for your daily walks. They may be short, but given the lack of traffic, they do offer you a safe place to walk. The only thing you must watch out for is other pedestrians using the area, especially considering that the terrain is flat, making it easy to navigate for people of all ages. Keeping your dog on a short leash will also help.

If you prefer to go for long walks, there is a broad walking trail running along SR-524. The trail runs for miles in either direction. If you are up for the challenge, you can walk all the way into town, but it’s a very long walk. For example, if you wanted to walk to the Walgreens on Dixon and Clearlake, it's four and a half miles one way. However, this sidewalk offers both of you a very safe place to go for long hikes together.

If you have a home in Cocoa Villas, you are right across the highway from a vast area of undeveloped woods with a lake in the middle. There are plenty of trails for the two of you to explore. Remember that these woods are undeveloped and are home to several wild animals that may not be too happy with you and your dog being in their territory. If you see an alligator or black bear, leave them alone and keep your pup securely on the leash to avoid any incidents.

For those who prefer to take their dog to play in a fenced-in dog park, Barks and Recreation is only ten minutes away on Pluckebaum Road. This dog park sits next to a lake, surrounded by grass and trees. You can walk around the lake with your dog before you take them into the fenced-in zones. There is plenty of seating for you to enjoy while you watch your pooch go and play.
