The downtown area of Cocoa is, much like any other small city, home to the city offices and a large selection of businesses. It is also home to the Historic Cocoa Village and a selection of residences. Like many smaller towns, there is a park as well! In fact, there are three of them all joined together for you and your pooch to check out.

There are plenty of small shops along the streets, along with several restaurants and bars. The good news, for your dog at least, is that there is a pet supply store that specializes in dogs. Called MYDOGSWAG and located at the corner of Center Street and Ridgeway Avenue, you should be able to find everything you need for your furry friend from a new leash and bag of their favorite food to a fantastic selection of treats and toys. If you need groceries, there are several supermarkets within a fifteen-minute radius of your home.

There is a surprisingly large amount of green space in the Downtown Cocoa area. Some are in the form of the grassy spaces around the various buildings, but the bulk of them is within the three parks on the river. Most of the area suffers from an excess of pavement, but there are plenty of sidewalks for you and your pooch to walk on. Be sure you keep your dog on a short leash in the downtown area for their safety and carry waste bags to clean up any messes made.

The parks sitting on the riverbank have paved pathways the two of you can make good use of for long walks away from the traffic.

The one area you might want to avoid is walking along West King Street or Willard Street. Both of these roads are bustling most of the day as they form the causeway leading over the Indian and Banana Rivers.

The only true greenways in the Downtown Cocoa area are the three parks on the waterfront. Each of these greenways has something different to offer. Taylor Park is heavily shaded and is home to plenty of playground equipment for your kids to spend time playing. From here, you and your dog can follow the brick pathways to Cocoa Riverfront Park.

Cocoa Riverfront Park features a pavilion and amphitheater where the city holds a wide variety of events throughout the summer. The pavilions are covered and there is a boardwalk to the Lee Wenner Park. The most important thing the riverfront park has to offer you and your dog is plenty of grass to run around on! The boardwalk leads over to Lee Wenner Park or you can walk on the grass. The park offers a large public boat ramp, a riverfront boardwalk, and plenty of grass for you and your pooch to enjoy.
