Built in 1973, the Aliki Condominiums were the first of five condo buildings built by Andy Xepapas and named after his wife. This area is just a few steps from the Bel-Air shopping plaza where you will find a Publix grocery store, a Ruby Tuesday's, and several other stores. If you are into dining out, some of the best restaurants in town are located within walking distance.
The beach can be found right outside the front door and, if you still have high schoolers, then Seabreeze High School is just across the street.
The Aliki Condos also have some of the widest balconies along the beachfront. If your unit is on the east side, you can watch the sunrise for another amazing 90-degree summer day. But if you live on the west side, you can always sit out on the balcony and watch the sunset over the Daytona Beach skyline. Either way, the view is spectacular!
There's not much in the way of hills or mountains here, but who needs them when you have miles of spectacular beach to enjoy? If you prefer to walk on a harder surface, all you have to do is cross A1A and there are plenty of residential blocks for the two of you walk around once you go past the school. Either way, you have plenty of places the two of you can hike around and explore.
The most important thing to remember is that no matter where you go, your pup needs plenty of exercise if you want them to live a long and healthy life. If you really want to get the most out of your walks, you need to vary the terrain you walk on as much as possible. Use city blocks some days and then hit the beach regularly to make use of the soft sand for a better workout!
The beach features hard wet sand by the surf's edge that is easy to walk on and soft dry sand that tends to be much harder to walk in and will give your legs a good workout. To get the most out of your walks, you should start out on the soft sand and get in a little extra exercise. The best part is that you and your pup get to play around in the surf!
If you want somewhere green to play in, there are several state parks and forests in the local area. One of the largest is the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area where you and your pooch can spend as much time as you like exploring over 30,000 acres of prime Florida forests with miles of trails for the two of you to hike along. Look around for the many creatures who call the area home!
