Frances Terrace runs between S. Peninsular Drive and A1A on the beach. The homes here are older but well-kept. There is so much to love about living on the coast, starting with the access to miles of the finest beaches in the state. For those who like to eat out, A1A has dozens of restaurants, eateries, and fast-food joints to choose from. There are even several dog-friendly parks out here on the peninsula. When you look at all the area has to offer, it's easy to see why so many people choose this area to retire in.

The weather here is spectacular all year round. With December weather in the 60s, you can even spend Christmas Day on the beach running around with Fido. In the summer, it can get a little hot with temperatures in the 90s and humidity to match. During the summer months, you should take your walks in the morning when it is still cool.

Beachside Daytona is flat enough that you can stand on one end of Frances Terrace and see the ocean or the Halifax river, depending on which end you are standing. With no sidewalks for two of you to use, you have no choice but to walk carefully along the side of the road. Be sure to walk against traffic and wear light-colored clothing.

While the ground here might be flat, you can vary your walks by going out on the beach. The beach offers a variety of terrains to walk on. If you walk in the dry sand, it tries to suck at your feet. Not only does this make it harder for both of you to walk, but it gives your muscles a good workout. On the way back, you should walk along the wet sand to give your legs a break.

You'll find that it doesn't take much to come up with walks that will give you plenty of exercise!

In the immediate vicinity, there isn't much in the way of green space. But within driving distance, there are a few small parks. The nearest of these is the City Island Park where you will find a boat dock you can tie up to or go fishing from, sports fields, and plenty of trails and grass for you and Fido to play on. The trail runs along the waterside, giving you a fantastic view of the Halifax River and the many boats that plow the waters.

If you are alright with a bit of travel, you can always head north to the Tomoka State Park where you will find over 2,000 acres of old growth, a wealth of native creatures to search for, and miles of paved and unpaved trails for you and Fido to explore. The park was once home to the Timucuan Indians and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
