Wallace is a tiny community of single-family homes on large lots that sit alongside Dr. M.L. King Jr. Boulevard just a few blocks from the Halifax River. Living here puts you in a location that is central to just about anything you could possibly want. For example, if you are a seafood lover, you have to check out the Chart House, one of the most famous seafood restaurants in the region. Beyond the Chart House, there are plenty of superb restaurants to sample, all within driving distance. If you like to go clubbing, the party never stops on the beachside.

The weather here is nothing short of amazing. Summers come with long days of endless sunshine and temperatures in the 90s, perfect for hitting the surf! Winters, on the other hand, tend to remain in the 50s which is ideal for taking your pup out for long walks on the beach far from the crowds of spring and summer.

The terrain here is perfect for those who just want to go for a walk with their dog. The flat ground may not be overly challenging to walk on, but every walk shouldn't be like trying to climb Mount Everest.

When faced with this type of ground to take your dog out on, the best thing you can do is try going in as many different directions as you can. Walk through different neighborhoods and create all-new walking patterns! Just be sure you give your dog new places to sniff at from time to time!

You can take your pup over to Live Oak Park for a bit of a romp on the grass and, of course, you can walk over to the river and walk the trail leading out to the Halifax Marina for something a little different. Remember, the more varied you can make your pooch's walks, the happier they will be!

The nearest green space is Live Oak Park at the end of Wallace Street, but this is only a small park that is ideal for a little running around on. The nearest dog park is at the Halifax Humane Society. This is a community dog park put together and maintained by the Humane Society and a team of volunteers. It is split into two different sections, one of which is for smaller dogs while the other one is for larger dogs. There are agility obstacles, water fountains for the hounds, and shade for you to sit in.

For more space to play, it's only a short drive out to the Tiger Bay State Forest where trails will take you to two large lakes and several ponds. Although over 15,000 acres were badly burned in the wildfires of 1998, the forest has grown back and is as beautiful as ever, making it a great place for you to explore.
