Walsingham Heights is a small single-family home community on 113th Street. Walking through the neighborhood involves a mixture of walking on the street and, in some places, walking on the sidewalks where they're available. If you decide to walk your pup early in the morning or later in the evening, remember to take safety precautions.

There are dog parks, pet supply stores, and an animal hospital all within a short driving distance. There are several beaches to the west where you and your dog will be welcome to enjoy the sand and surf. One of the biggest draws to the Largo area has to be the weather. While summers do bring the heaviest rainfall, the average high temperatures are mild and between the 60s and 80s. Even if you have to take an umbrella with you, you can take your pup out for a walk almost every day of the year.

When it comes to elevation, the entire city of Largo rises only 69 feet from sea level, a slope that is virtually impossible to detect. If your dog is very athletic and ready to go, this might not be the best area to take him for a walk in. But if your pup is carrying around a few extra pounds, the flat ground may be the perfect place to start working them off. Start with a walk down the street and then start adding in a block after block. Before you know it, those extra pounds will be a thing of the past!

For the more ambitious, there is Walsingham Park which is to the southwest where there are several trails for the two of you to check out. While there are beaches directly to the west, if you want to go walking on the beach, you must drive to those that allow dogs.

Walsingham Heights does not have any green space within its boundaries. However, just a few blocks to the southwest lies Walsingham Park/Reservoir. This beautiful park sits on 354 acres with the 100-acre Walsingham Reservoir virtually splitting the park in half. Inside the park are picnic tables, a playground, restrooms, grills, a place to launch non-gas-powered boats, and an off-leash dog park. The park also has plenty of trails for the two of you to explore, including all the way around the reservoir.

If you are interested in taking your pooch to the beach, you will have to drive a little as the beaches in Largo are not dog-friendly. However, Picnic Island Beach in Tampa, Gandy Bridge Causeway, Fort De Soto Dog Beach Park, and Honeymoon Island State Dog Park in Dunedin are all dog-friendly and ready to let the two of you have fun in the sun, sand, and surf.
