Thunder Alley is the home of Thunderboat Row, a place where millionaires, billionaires, and many international dignitaries and diplomats have come for years  to buy the most powerful boats in the world. Many of these 'cigarette' boats are capable of speeds on the water similar to those of a Ferrari on dry land. Thunder Alley is now home to several large condominium buildings along with all that remains of the boat-builders of yore. The area has worked hard to shed its seedy image of long of ago as the boating market has changed with the times.

One nice thing about the condominiums, however, is that they all have at least some grassy areas around them for you and your pooch. There are restaurants nearby, offering a selection of fine and fast foods. Pet stores are within driving distance and there is one small park with a little grassy area to enjoy with your dog.

As you might expect on a small spit of land filled with condos, the terrain here is mostly artificial with water on three sides. The other side is NE 29th Street, a bustling thoroughfare. Most of the condos here have grassy areas around them, but you will have to look at the COA rules to see if you are allowed to walk dogs on them. Beyond this, you are limited to walking up and down NE 188th Street which, thankfully, has wide sidewalks on each side.

If you and Jack are up for the walk, there are parks on both sides of the Alley across the canal that offer trails and grass. Bear in mind that the pavement can reach temperatures of more than 135°F during the summer months. Temperatures like these can severely burn your pup's paws, so take that into consideration when choosing the optimal time to walk your pup throughout the day.

Thunder Alley is a spit of land jutting out into Dumfoundling Bay and has virtually nothing in the way of green space. There is one tiny park with a small patch of grass, but you will need to leave the neighborhood to find more.

If you are up for a bit of a drive out of the area, you can always grab the rest of the family and head south to Oleta River State Park just off of NE 163rd St. Located on Biscayne Bay, Oleta River State Park is listed as being the largest urban state park in Florida. While there are many things to do here, taking your pup for long hikes on the miles of trails may be your best choice. There beautiful Mangrove forests to walk through, an incredible array of flora and fauna native to South Florida, and a 1,200-foot long beach where you can swim or go saltwater fishing.
