The Golden Arms Condominiums sit right on the beach and three blocks north of historic Flagler Avenue. From the balcony of your condo, you can relax with a cup of coffee and watch one of the most spectacular sunrises you are likely to see. At the same time, you can sit back and watch the surfers as they make use of some of the best waves on the Florida coast.

Having a condo here means needing to stock the pantry with both human and dog food. There is a Publix grocery store where you can buy everything you need. Prefer to eat out? Not to worry, there are plenty of restaurants on Flagler Avenue and then down a little further on E 3rd Avenue that are well worth checking out.

Living here also puts you with driving distance of several parks and nature preserves for you and your dog to go walking in. Each of them offers something a little different.

Living right on the beach in a condo does come with certain advantages and disadvantages. While you might live on the coast, you do have to put up with the amount of traffic living here produces. S Atlantic Avenue a bustling road, especially during peak tourist seasons. But it's not just vehicular traffic and pedestrians you have to worry about. You have the same issue on the beach where cars and other motorized vehicles are also permitted.

Vehicles on the beach can be a lot of fun, but part of the problem lies in the number of people and drivers who may or may not be paying close attention to where they are going. Talk about a recipe for disaster. While the dry and wet sands of the beach offer excellent walking conditions, the dunes can be a dangerous place to walk with your dog. The best way to avoid this problem is to go out for your walks early in the morning.

Let's start by talking more about the beach that sits right outside your front door. The beach offers two different types of terrain for you and your dog to walk on. The first is the soft dry sand. These conditions give leg muscles and lungs a good workout. The second is the wet sand at the edge of the surf. It is like walking on a hard-packed surface with the benefit of cool water lapping at your feet. You can walk for as many miles as the two of you can handle.

A five-minute drive north will take you and your dog to the Smyrna Dunes Park at the tip of the peninsula. The park covers 73 acres and contains five different ecosystems. It also features a 1.5-mile long elevated boardwalk that takes you over the sensitive dunes to a dog-friendly beach where you and your pooch can go for swims in the warm waters of the inlet.
