Smyrna Estates is a large residential community along US-1 close to the New Smyrna Beach Airport. Along with the residential areas, there are numerous businesses lining both sides of the highway. Most of the homes here are single-family houses arranged in neat blocks. You'll have a large lake for a neighbor to the northwest and part of the Spruce Creek Preserve to the northeast.

The only real drawback is your proximity to the New Smyrna Beach Airport which can, from time to time, be a little noisy depending on which runway is being used. Living here puts you close to a number of restaurants and small shops. There are more places to eat, grocery stores, and pet supply shops within ten minutes of your home and, for those who like to golf, New Smyrna Beach is home to several exceptional courses including the New Smyrna Beach Golf Course that is open to the public.

Being this close to the airport and the adjacent industrial areas means living with a lot of traffic during the day. While rush hours might add to the congestion, the traffic here includes tractor-trailers, delivery vehicles, and many others on the main roads all day long. However, if you stay off the main road and keep your walks to the residential streets, you can avoid most of the traffic with the exception of during rush hours.

The terrain itself is flat and unexciting, but this is not all. None of the residential streets here have sidewalks for you and your dogs to walk on. This means the two of you are stuck walking on the streets, which means making sure you take extra precautions to stay safe on your walks. The area is also home to a small lake and park for the two of you to incorporate into your daily walks.

The community is home to a lake, wooded area, and a small park. Each offers the two of you somewhere different to add into your walks. Your dog can even take a dip in the lake to cool off.

To the east is the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. This is a nature preserve that covers 1,637 acres of prime Florida swamps and forests. The preserve offers you and your dog miles of trails to hike along. They go all the way to Rose Bay, offering you a hike of up to six miles if you and your pooch are up to it.

If you take the North or South Causeway, you and your pup can be on the beach in about fifteen minutes or so. The coastal sands run for miles from the Ponce Inlet all the way to Port Canaveral. Enjoy the warm waters and the smooth sand as you take a stroll with your pooch.
