Sugar Mills Gardens is one of the planned residential communities built around the Sugar Mills Golf Club & Course. The houses are aligned on a loop with multiple cul-de-sacs and only one way in and out. The neighborhood contains two lakes and a small wooded area on the west side and in the southwest corner.
Living out here by the golf course offers you and your family a quiet, safe place to live. There are plenty of green spaces in the area for you and your dog to use for walks in the shade. While there may not be much in the way of amenities, grocery stores, pet supply stores, and great restaurants are all within a ten-minute drive of your home.
Whether you are an avid surfer or merely like to hang out on the beach, the water is less than twenty minutes to the east. It offers a beautiful place to go for long walks with your pup early in the morning.
There are many advantages to living in Sugar Mills Gardens beyond the peace and quiet. With a single entry-exit road, the only times traffic is busy are morning and evening rush hours and when the school buses are running. This means you and your dog can enjoy going for long walks together around the neighborhood and on the sidewalks. This being said, you still need to keep an eye out for cars and the occasional golf cart.
While there are sidewalks for the two of you to use, the one thing they are missing is shade trees. There is nothing to provide you with even a scant amount of shade if you stick to the sidewalks. The wooded areas may have short trails running in them you can use to get out of the sun and you might be able to let your dog swim in the lakes to cool off when the summer temperatures hit their peak.
There are small areas of woods within the neighborhood, but on the other side of Pioneer Trail, there is a vast undeveloped area covered with trees, scrubs, hiking trails, and several lakes. This can be the perfect place to take your pooch out for daily walks. Don't forget mosquito repellent for both of you as they tend to be nasty in this area!
Alternatively, the two of you can go for long walks in the soft sand of the beach to build up your endurance and leg muscles. Once you reach the furthest point of your walk, you can turn around and walk back on the hard packed wet sand. It's a great way to get your exercise while enjoying the cool breezes. The best time of day to go walking is early in the morning before it fills up with people and cars or the temperature reaches the point of being too hot.
