Sans Souci is a small neighborhood located on the coast of North Miami, just south of Keystone Point and Islands. It is an upscale area with lots of expensive homes and condominiums as well as several major commercial thoroughfares with popular chains and several small businesses. Its location on the water and proximity to lots of convenient dining and shopping options makes it a destination for older homeowners and tourists in Florida.
The weather in Miami is stereotypically hot and humid and its location on the beach makes it a popular summer tourism destination. Its average temperatures in the summer are almost always in the mid to upper 80s. The winters in Miami are no problem, hardly ever going below 50 degrees. If you and your dog are walking around in the summer, you will want to make sure both of you are properly hydrated for wherever your walk may take you.
The terrain in Sans Souci is extremely flat, just like the rest of southern Florida, and it will make for an easy place to walk your dog. There are almost no hills or shifts in elevation, so the walk won’t be too strenuous for your legs. The area has a coastal, beach atmosphere, making its environment a mix between natural and artificial. Many of the artificial commercial parts of a beach town come along with Sans Souci, but there are a few natural areas and waterways as well.
This is a very high-traffic part of North Miami, so you will want to avoid the commercial areas during rush hour because of the high volume of foot and street traffic. It is best to stick to the residential parts of the community located close to the waterfront rather than to the main drags on the western side.
There are several parks and greenways located in and around Sans Souci. Alfred Besade Park is located in the center of the neighborhood and it has two separate playgrounds as well as a large grassy area that is often used for soccer or other sports. This open field can still make for a great place for you and your dog to walk as long as you keep in mind the leash regulations in the area.
The Biscayne Shores and Garden Park is another good walking destination, located just across Biscayne Boulevard from the central boundaries of Sans Souci. This park is much larger than Besade Park and it has more open green space and a few walking trails. Between these two, you have a lot of areas you can cover with your dog, but there are even more options within a short walking distance of Sans Souci.
