Nestled among the trees next to Spruce Creek is Bentwood, a community of large upscale homes set in a peaceful environment "far from the madding crowd." One of the reasons so many have chosen to live here is the lack of heavy traffic and crowds of people. While the houses may be relatively close to each other, most of the yards have plenty of trees that help maintain a sense of privacy.

Living out here might make you feel as though you are a million miles from the central area of town, but it's really just an illusion! In no more than ten minutes, you can be anywhere you need to be along Dunlawton Avenue. Along with being the main east-west road through town, this road is also home to the majority of essential shopping amenities and a large selection of local and chain restaurants for you and your family to enjoy.

If you could describe Bentwood, you could almost say it's like being on the road to nowhere. The only traffic you are likely to see are the vehicles of those who live here, the mail carrier, and a few odd service vehicles. Beyond this, there isn't any reason for others to be here. In fact, those who live in the area tend to keep an eye out for cars that don't belong.

The lack of traffic is probably a good thing as there aren't any sidewalks for the two of you to use. This means you will be walking on streets where the light fades in and out, making it very hard for motorists to see you in the darker hours. Be sure you walk against traffic and wear clothes that make you easier to see and can help save both of your lives or, at the very least, keep you from a nasty accident!

You won't find much in the way of open green spaces here for you and your dog to play on. However, to find places to play, all you have to do is load your dog in the car and do a little driving. In five minutes, you can be at the dual fenced-in areas of the Seemore Memorial Dog Park. This is a excellent one-acre park with plenty of shade for you to sit in. There are stations where your dog can get a drink of fresh water and where you can hose them down to rinse the dust off.

Getting to the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve is a little more challenging as you must make your way to South Williamson Boulevard. By the time you reach the entrance, you will have covered around ten miles. From here, the two of you can hike many miles of nature trails, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
