Ritters of Florida is a small area of woods along South Clyde Morris Boulevard, Wellfield Drive, and Herbert Street. Along with a few homes, Ritter's Frozen Custard sits on the corner and a small medical office complex sits alongside Herbert Street. The houses here are large, luxurious, and sit on vast yards that you won't see in many other areas of town.

Living here puts you within a few blocks of Dunlawton Avenue, a vital road in the City of Port Orange. To start with, it is the main east-west road through town running from the I-95 interchange on the west side of the district to the Atlantic coast on the east side. This major roadway is also where you and your family will find most of the big-box retailers, supercenters, supermarkets, and many other types of stores and great places to take the family out to for a meal.

All three of the streets in this neighborhood are bustling most of the day, but especially during the morning and evening rush hours. Unless your dog happens to be very comfortable around busy streets and lots of traffic noises and smells, you should probably restrict your walks to the residential communities to the north and east.

Once the rush hour traffic has passed, you and your dog should be able to walk around the various communities without too much trouble. There are plenty of sidewalks here for you and your dog to enjoy and the only other thing you and your dog are likely to have to worry about is other pedestrians which you can come across from time to time. The best way to keep things under control is to keep your dog on a short leash and understand your pup's limitations when it comes to acknowledging strangers.

Within Ritters of Florida, there is a small patch of woods for you and your dog to wander around in, but there very little room here to roam. However, if you walk east on Herbert Street, you will end up at the City Center Softball Fields and Athletic Fields. Both have plenty of room for the two of you to run around on as long as there aren't any games occupying the space. Alternatively, just below the athletic fields is Port Orange City Center with a large lake and walking track for you and your dog to enjoy on a beautiful summer day.

If you prefer somewhere with plenty of room to run around and play, why not take Dunlawton Avenue east to the beach? You can drive out onto the sand, park your car, and then walk for miles. You can go as far as you like here, but remember, you do have to make the trip back to your car!
