Springwood Village is a townhome community at the junction of South Nova Road and Madeline Avenue. One of the best things about being a pet owner and living here is that your home is across the street from the Atlantic Animal Hospital Port Orange, just in case something happens.

Living out here puts you close to two large parks, one restaurant, and a large campground along with many other residential communities. While most of the neighborhoods are reasonably quiet during the day, South Nova Road is a major four-lane thoroughfare that runs from the north past Ormond Beach.

While South Nova Road is a bustling highway, it will take you to grocery stores, places to buy pet supplies, and just about any other type of amenity you might need. For those who like to dine out, Dunlawton Avenue offers access to a fantastic array of chain and privately-owned restaurants from which to choose.

The area around Springwood Village is relatively flat and dull, offering not much of a challenge when taking your dog out for walks. However, the one challenge you have no choice but to deal with is the amount of traffic in the area. Both South Nova Road and Madeline Avenue are bustling roads during the day. Both become traffic nightmares during the morning and evening rush hours.

Even the streets running through the communities tend to be busy. But, once things have calmed down in the neighborhood, you and your pup should be able to comfortably walk along the shaded roads in the areas to the west. One thing to keep in mind is that the shade makes it hard for drivers to see you in the evening hours. Wear light-colored clothing and walk against the traffic for your safety and that of your pup. Alternatively, bring a flashlight or reflective gear with you, especially if you decide to stroll at night.

Living here puts you within walking distance of both Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens and Reed Canal Park. The gardens offer you several nature trails to take your dog for walks on, beautifully maintained botanical gardens to enjoy, and acres of shade to stay cool in during the summer months.

Reed Canal Park offers a vast area of grass for you and your dog to play together on, trails to hike on, a lake to walk around, and a section of woods to explore. This is a very popular park and one where you are likely to run into other dog walkers.

You can't live within a ten-minute drive of the beaches without taking your dog out for a little hike on the sand and surf. You simply take Dunlawton Avenue all the way onto the sand, park your car, and get ready to hike as far as the two of can handle!
