The Port Orange community of Sunnydale is on the beachside peninsula with a spectacular view of the Halifax River next to the Admiralty Club Condo. The beach is only two blocks to the east and Dunlawton Avenue with the bridge back over to the mainland are three blocks to the north. The majority of the houses on Beverly Terrace are large and well-kept. The one at the end of the road is even a massive luxury home with a private dock and boathouse!

While there are a number of small tourist shops along South Atlantic Avenue, if you want grocery stores, pet supply stores, department stores, and more, you'll have to take the bridge back over to the mainland. The good news is that if you stay on Dunlawton Avenue, you will find stores like Publix, Walmart, a Pet Supermarket, Petco, Home Depot, and Lowe's! Along with the many stores along this road, you will also find some of the city's best restaurants!

While living so close to the beach does come with a lot of traffic, most of it stays on South Atlantic Avenue. Sunnydale is one block to the west off of Cardinal Boulevard. That's not to say there won't be any traffic here, only that it will be significantly less! The only thing missing within the neighborhood is sidewalks for you and your dog to walk on. However, as a dead-end road, the two of you should be safe as long as you use a short leash.

Once you reach Cardinal Boulevard, there is a wide sidewalk running along the west side of it which you and your dog can use for your daily walks. Between the sidewalk and the street, there is a nice strip of grass your dog can use instead of walking on the pavement. Using a short leash is a good way to maintain control and provide an extra level of security that will make your dog feel more comfortable.

When it comes to green spaces, the nearest one may not be green in color, but it's a five-minute walk to the east. We're talking about the beach! You can walk your dog to there and then hike for as many miles as you want! Use the soft dry sand for maximum exercise and the wet sand for gentle strolls while you search for seashells, sand dollars, and starfish. Make sure you take time to go for a dip with your dog! It'll help keep you cool.

If you must have green space to play, why not hop in the car and head west on US-92? Your journey will take the two of you to the Tiger Bay State Forest which is part of the 30,000 acres that make up the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area. Here, you can hike for miles among the trees, lakes, streams, and open meadows while you look for the many different creatures who call this place home.
