Sunrise Oaks is a family-friendly neighborhood located near the corner of South Clyde Morris Boulevard and Richel Drive. There is a single road into the community which helps keep traffic down to a minimum. The community is surrounded on three sides by woods and there are three lakes within the confines of the neighborhood. Living here also puts you close to Atlantic High School Volusia.

Living here gives you great shopping choices. You can go north on Nova Road to the shopping in South Daytona or you can drive south to Dunlawton Avenue, the main shopping district in Port Orange. In either direction, there are plenty of grocery stores, big box retailers, and plenty of places to take your family out for a great meal.

There are many parks and nature preserves within driving distance and the beach is only a few minutes to the east. All of these areas offer you and your dog plenty of space to stretch your legs.

No matter how you look at it, this is a busy part of town. US-1 is one of the first north-south highways in the country, running from Fort Kent in Maine all the way down the coast to its southern end on Key West. The only other road running north-south that is this busy is US-95. Dunlawton Avenue to the north is another bustling road. Between the two, the traffic never stops. It only slows down in the wee hours of the morning.

Rush hour only makes the traffic worse, but as long as you stick to walking within the residential areas, you and your dog should be safe. The one thing you can do to keep it that way is to use a short leash. This will help you maintain better control and will give your dog a sense of security. At all times, you should keep your eyes out for commercial traffic taking shortcuts through the neighborhood.

The nearest green space is a large field to the west of the FEC railroad line. This is a vast undeveloped area of grass, trees, and a lake to walk around. It's a great place to take your dog during the day to get in a little play time!

Over the Dunlawton Bridge is the beach. You can drive right out onto the sand, park your car, and take your dog for a nice, long walk! The salt air, surf, and sunshine are best enjoyed early in the morning before it gets too hot and the beach gets too crowded for the two of you to enjoy.

If you are up for something a little more challenging, take US-92 to the west for about 20 minutes. Your journey will take you to the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area. Covering more than 30,000 acres of wetlands, scrub, and forests, there are miles of trails for you and your dog to enjoy hiking along in this area.
