The Lexington is a small residential community sitting between Herbert Street and Canal View Boulevard. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly with only a few single-family homes resting among the trees. While you may not be in the center of town, you are close to Dunlawton Avenue where there are any number of major stores like Walmart and Publix to shop at.

You are virtually next door to the Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens, an exquisite botanical garden with hundreds of flowers and plants to enjoy and nature trails to explore. There are several other parks and nature preserves in the area for you and your pooch to visit and the beach is a ten to fifteen-minute drive from your front doorstep. With so many places you can go have fun with your dog, it's easy to see why so many people say Port Orange is a dog-friendly place to live and a great place to raise a family.

Tucked away in a quieter area of town, the only time you and your pooch are likely to encounter much in the way of vehicular traffic is during the usual morning and evening rush hours. Beyond this, the cul-de-sac remains pretty quiet during the day. Herbert Street, the only one open to the neighborhood, might see a little more traffic, but not enough that it should prevent you and your dog from getting out and going for long walks together.

The land here might be flat and not very challenging, but the trick when walking in an area like this is to vary where you go. You can go west on Herbert Street or east. Each direction will take the two of you into entirely different areas of town. You never know who you might run into on your walks. This is a neighborly part of town and those who live here are quite friendly.

Living in the Lexington neighborhood leaves you several choices when it comes to green spaces to take your hound to play. The nearest is the Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens, just west on Herbert Street. Aptly named, Sugar Mill is full of carefully maintained botanical gardens for you to enjoy and nature trails to follow through the woods and gardens.

Ten minutes south is the All Children's Park and Seemore Memorial Dog Park. Let the kids hang out in the children's park and then let your dog run around off-leash in one of the two fenced-in areas. Each of these areas has a place for your pooch to get a drink of water and another spot to rinse off the dust at the end of playtime.

Then, there is the beach. It's only ten minutes to the east on Dunlawton and the best part is that you can park right on the sand! Enjoy the warm waters of the Atlantic with your pooch at your side.
