Viking is a family-friendly neighborhood of modest homes on the south side of Madeline Avenue, sitting close to the intersection with South Clyde Morris Boulevard. All of the homes within the neighborhood are lined up along Viking Drive which starts and ends on Bruner Road. To the west is an area of scrub that separates the community from the Walmart Neighborhood Market and a small shopping center.

While you certainly aren't in the center of town living this far north, it's a little misleading. Dunlawton Avenue, the main east-west road through town, is also the central shopping district. From big box retailers to supermarkets and pet supplies, you can find them all on this street.

There are green spaces within walking distance and many more within a five to twenty-minute drive of your home. This includes the beach where you and your dog can hike while enjoying the fresh ocean air and sunshine.

Within the community, traffic can be a little busy during the usual rush hours, but given the shape of Viking Drive, there is never enough to call it serious rush hour traffic. However, both Madeline and Clyde Morris Boulevard are bustling roads during the day and may not be the best place for you to take your dog out for walks. You will be much better off keeping your walks within your own neighborhood.

Along with this, you can make use of the trails that have been made in the buffer zone between Burner Road and the shopping center. It's quite a large area with several trails running through it.

While Viking Drive might not have sidewalks for the two of you to use, if you go east along Madeline, the next community over has plenty. If you choose this option, the sidewalks will help keep the two of you safely off the streets.

With the large buffer zone to walk your dog in and the lake to the south, you and your dog have plenty of green space to run around on for your daily walks. There are plenty of man-made trails for you to explore here and the terrain is a little uneven, adding to the challenge.

The nearest park is Reed Canal Park on the corner of South Nova Road and Reed Canal Road. The park offers a vast area of grass for the two of you to run around, shady trails in the woods to explore, and a lake to hike around. This is a very popular park with dog owners.

For something fun to do with your dog early in the morning, hop in the car and take the Dunlawton Avenue bridge to the beach. The two of you can spend hours hiking along the sand, hunting for seashells and sand dollars while enjoying the fresh air.
