Sitting at the southern tip of the Spruce Creek Golf Course, the community around the Whispering Woods Condo is filled with large family homes that all have screened-in swimming pools attached to the backs of their homes. The houses are surrounded by a lake with only one access road coming into the neighborhood. The condos have a lake in the middle, plenty of grass for you and your pooch to walk on, and like the community on Springwater Lane, there is only one road coming into the area.

Living this far out from the center of town might seem to put you far away from essential amenities, but the trip into the center of town via South Williamson Boulevard is only ten to fifteen minutes. It's a small price to pay for being able to enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with living out here. The only noise you have to deal with is the few airplanes that fly in and out of the Spruce Creek Airport.

The ground out here is flat, much like you might expect here in this part of Florida. The roads through the community have no sidewalks for you and your dog to walk on and virtually nothing in the way of shade to protect you from the glare of the summer sun. This can make for some very uncomfortable walks. The best way to avoid this problem is to take your walks early in the morning before the sun starts heating everything up.

Both the single-family houses and condo areas are enclosed with only a single road in or out. While you may have a small amount of vehicular traffic to deal with during rush hours, the rest of the day, you won't see much beyond the school buses and the mail carrier. You may find a few kids running around and playing in the streets, but as long as you keep your dog on a short leash, none of this should be a problem.

Within the condo buildings, there is a large area of grass around the lake. This makes a great place for you to walk your dog without having to go outside of the condo community. For those who live in the houses and the condos, the Flyin' Kids Park offers a playground and a large area of grass for you and your pooch to run around on. Be sure you keep your pooch on a leash for everyone's safety.

If you head south on Airport Road and then take Pioneer Trail east, it will take you to the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. The park covers over 1,600 acres of wetlands, swamps, and dense forest. Inside, you and your dog can hike the many miles of trails running through the preserve, some of which you can use to hike the six miles to New Smyrna Beach and back. Be sure you take out a few minutes to climb the observation tower that looks out over the wetlands.
