As residential neighborhoods go, Winter Park Estates is a tranquil and heavily shaded paradise. The houses here are large and upscale, blending in well with the many other communities in the area. This is an excellent part of the city to raise a family, including a furry four-legged member. While you are not in the center of town, you are close enough to drive to just about anything you need within fifteen to twenty minutes.

A short trip to the north will take you to Dunlawton Avenue, the central highway running through town. Along with taking you and your family all the way to the beach, it is also the feed road to I-95 and all points north and south. There is one more thing you need to know about Dunlawton Avenue as it's the central shopping district in town. From grocery stores to pet supply stores, you can find everything you need along both sides of the road.

One of the many benefits to living in Winter Park Estates is the peace and quiet. Sure, you still have the morning and evening rush hours to deal with, but with so few homes, traffic never becomes an issue. There are even shady sidewalks for you and your dog to use for your walks.

You can take your walks outside of the neighborhood into surrounding communities to add more distance, or you can go north to Central Park Boulevard and then to Spruce Creek Road to get to the All Children's Park and Seemore Memorial Dog Park.

With such flat terrain in this region of Port Orange, you may need to vary your walks through different neighborhoods, especially if your pooch is particularly athletic. Use one of the nearby parks or venture into the busy area of town to get some true variety. It may help make up for the lack of hills!

Within Winter Park Estates, you won't find much in the way of green space beyond the large manicured yards. Luckily, if you follow the route to the All Children's Park and Seemore Memorial Dog Park, there is room to play for everyone! The children's park offers softball fields you can run around on with your dog, a small splash pad that's open during the warm months, and a very popular pirate-themed playground set. There is even plenty of shade and trails for you to enjoy.

Next door is the Seemore Memorial Dog Park, a one-acre park divided into sections for small breeds, large breeds, and dogs with special needs. Each of the areas has plenty of shade for both you and your dog to enjoy and plenty of benches for you to sit. There are water stations for the dogs and a rinse station to rinse the dust off your pooch at the end of the day.
