Tampa features a humid subtropical climate, meaning the area stays warm year-round with a few rainy days in the winter. While temperatures are slightly cooler in the winter, they can still reach the high 80s. Always check the weather before heading out as hot days are not ideal for dogs! You can also try walking your pup in the early morning when it's still slightly cooler before the temperatures rise.
The neighborhood is very walkable and accessible as it has two entrances from East Dr. M.L.K. Jr. Boulevard. While there are sidewalks on the boulevard, it is a busy highway. Try to avoid walking near there, especially if your pet is frightened by fast-moving vehicles. Stick to the quiet streets of Buffalo Estates and you and your furry friend are sure to have a great time.
In addition, the Veterans Memorial Park is about a 15-minute walk outside of Buffalo Estates. This park is a sprawling green space dedicated to U.S. war veterans. You'll find a variety of monuments dedicated to different groups as well as a museum for you to visit and explore. This park features grassy areas and shaded benches and is a nice, relaxing spot to pay your respects. From the park, you'll find access to the Tampa Bypass Canal Trail, a 17-mile grassy trail perfect for running or walking your pet.
