Lamour Court is a tiny neighborhood in the Wellswood section of Tampa. The community consists of large, mostly older homes with some sidewalks for you and your pup to walk on. The area itself has several bustling offices and shops nearby, making traffic a challenge at certain times of the day. Many of the homes here sit in the shade of massive oak trees that were here long before the region was established by Europeans. Pet stores, groomers, and dog-friendly parks are within driving distance with the closest park being Al Lopez Park to the west with plenty of trails, fishing, and more. There is an abundance of restaurants in the area serving a diverse range of foods for you to check out as well! Keep in mind that once summer hits, the pavement can quickly become hot enough to burn your pup's feet with daytime temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s.
The terrain in this area of Tampa is relatively flat with little to challenge you and your pup when it comes to going for a walk. One issue you have with this particular area is a distinct lack of places that even have sidewalks beyond those on the main roads. This can make taking your pooch for a walk a bit more dangerous than in areas where there are plenty of sidewalks so be sure you wear plenty of reflective clothing if you plan to walk at night or in the early morning hours. Fortunately, if you take your walks to the south, there are more neighborhoods for the two of you to stroll through and explore. Adding more distance to each walk is a great way to challenge yourselves without the need to drive somewhere like the Lower Hillsborough Wildlife Preserve every day to get in your daily walks and exercise.
Unfortunately, being just off Hwy 92 and N. Armenia Ave. does not bring much in the way of green space that is accessible to the public. There are a few spots including one with a small lake on the corner of W. Osborne and N. Madill and another sizeable spot under the trees next door to Mendenhall Elementary School.
To the west is Al Lopez Park which covers 132 acres. Inside this park, there are two ponds and the northern of the pair is an excellent place to fish. Along with the two ponds, there are trails all around the park for the two of you to go for relaxing strolls along. You never know what species of wildlife you might see on your walk! Be sure to check out 'The Spot' on the corner of W. M.L.K. Blvd. and N. Dale Mabry Hwy and the dog park where your pup can run free.
