To the northwest of downtown Atlanta, Georgia lies Brandon, an affluent neighborhood comprised of Victorian mansions and Georgian manors. The community is situated in the Peachtree zone of Atlanta, a historic region comprised of over 72 roads with the word ‘Peachtree’ in their name. The neighborhood is made up of ten streets all leading onto the main road, Wesley Road.
PetSmart and the Whole Dog Market are two of the most popular pet stores in the area to grab supplies. Both are located only a five-minute drive away from the center of Brandon and boast facilities from pet grooming to puppy treats and toys.
Summer daytime temperatures exceed 95 degrees due to the state of Georgia’s subtropical climate. Their winters are characterized by mild temperatures and typically last only a few months. The state's seasons are distinct and so the spring is often filled with vibrant greens and the autumn displays reds and oranges.
Brandon’s neighborhood is well-kept and pristine. The large houses and mansions that sit in this region make the community feel rather grand and prestigious. This adds to the artificial feel of the neighborhood and keeps the area neat and tidy. Behind the mansions are long gardens that belong to the locals. They contain tall trees that tower above the houses. This makes the background feel somewhat woodland like. Combine this with the well-kept foreground of the houses and it creates a unique characteristic to the community. In the summer, these trees provide natural shade, providing a great way to keep you out of the hot Atlanta sun.
Brandon is mostly flat with slight inclines when walking on certain roads such as Peachtree Battle Circuit and Dawn View Lane. This makes the neighborhood easy to walk around. Combine this with the sidewalks that line every street and it makes the area perfect if you’re looking for an easy stroll!
Surrounding Brandon, there are plenty of greenways. Atlanta Memorial Park is one of them. This park dates back to the Georgian period and is one of the largest parks in the area that encompasses Brandon. The park is a gigantic 200 acres and offers everything from a children’s playground to running tracks and tennis courts. The river that flows through the park is called Peachtree Creek, a famous lake of which many roads in the area are named after. Along the creek, there are footpaths that are great to take your four-legged friend.
Haynes Manor Park is a small greenway just to the north. This park is great to take your pup if you're new to training them. Its small size means the green space is intimate and you'll feel safe letting your puppy off the leash here. It's also enclosed by a fence, meaning that there will be no problem if your pup hasn’t been taught recall yet.
