Historically Atlanta, Georgia is known as the state's beating heart with the rail network that ran through it known as the lifelines. Today, it’s the complex road systems that keep Atlanta beating and Fairburn Heights appreciates this fact. Linked to downtown Atlanta by I-20 West, the once far away neighborhood of Fairburn is now just a ten-minute drive away.

Fairburn is perhaps the most favored community by dog owners because of the four large green spaces in the outlying corners of this neighborhood. All within a five-minute drive away, Westside Reservoir Park, English Park, Herbert Greene, and Lionel Hampton-Beecher Park are all superb spaces.

While here, experience the Atlanta sun that makes a happy appearance all year round. The long, hot summers are married by the short, mild winters and the state rarely experiences frost. This combined with the varied rainy days throughout the year mean that vegetation flourishes and creates a wonder of tall Maple and Southern Live Oak.

Perhaps the name of Fairburn Heights is telling of the somewhat hilly terrain that it embraces, seeing as small gradients of hills and valleys do roll over the neighborhood. Although, the reason for the name is more likely due to its high sea level and the way it looks over its surrounding communities. This creates great views while walking around and doesn’t burden you too much with a workout!

The residential feel to the community is counteracted by the wide set streets giving Fairburn Heights an open and candid feel. Here, there are red brick and wooden houses that sit just behind long drives and behind these, tall forest trees tower the homes. This combined with the lovely and well-looked after front yards full of trees and flowers adds a rural feel to Fairburn Heights. This has created the ideal balance between suburban and natural and, for your pup's daily walk, it is just right.

Fairburn Heights' local green space is Collier Heights Park, a family-friendly park that hosts everything from children’s play structures to footpaths and open fields. This park is great for a convenient walk and is much-loved by the community.

If you're looking for something more exciting, Herbert Green and Utoy Boulder Park is a short drive away to the southwest. Here, you can find a riverside walk, a large fresh body of water for your pup to swim in, and woodland trails, but also large rocks and cliff faces to explore. Jump over the giant stones that are plotted along Utoy Creek or go for the more relaxed approach with riverside footpaths. Either way, it is an adventure not to be missed!

If this wasn’t enough, a rich forest-filled green space of Lionel Hampton-Beecher Park is to the east of Fairburn Heights. With beautiful scenery and hiking trails galore, endless amount of fun can be enjoyed here.
