Joyland is a residential neighborhood situated on the outskirts of central Atlanta, Georgia. The neighborhood is located to the southwest of Downtown Atlanta and is accessed from Pryor Road. The area has a lively and young feel to it, perhaps because of the two well-known colleges located to the west.
Immediately surrounding Joyland are residential neighborhoods, but by driving just two minutes in each direction, you can find plenty of puppy amenities to suit your fancy. Intown Healthy Hound is a favourite of the local community as its relaxed approach to customers always makes them feel welcome.
Long hot summers and mild winters are typical of the Atlanta climate. This is due to the subtropical location of the state of Georgia. This makes the neighborhood extremely pleasant to walk through during autumn and spring when the weather is cool, yet pleasant enough to take your four-legged friend out for their daily walk.
The Joyland community mainly consists of narrow roads with small houses lining the streets. No beeping horns here! The community doesn’t get busy with traffic and many roads don’t have footpaths. Unless you're wanting to take a walk on the wild side, this can be something to think about if you like to walk your pup off the leash.
The Appalachian Mountains influence the terrain around Atlanta, so the area does contain steady hills. These are great if you want to get a workout involved in your doggy walking experience! If exercise isn't your thing, the green spaces have plenty of levelled out footpaths.

If you’re looking for some space for your pup to run around, there are plenty of green spaces in the surrounding area for you and your pooch to take a look at.
A green space which is definitely worth taking an adventure around is Emma Millican Park and Gardens. This scenic park contains many features such as picnic benches, a stream, footpaths, and large, shady trees. If you’re on a family dog walk, the park also offers a host of play structures, family-friendly facilities, and open fields to play fetch with your pup. Here, because of the fenced-off fields from the roads, you have a great location to train your pooch come when called.
South Atlanta Park is located northeast of Joyland and is only a fifteen-minute walk away. The park offers a whole host of amenities such a dog-friendly running tracks and stunning gardens. The open fields of this park make it a perfect setting to train your puppy to fetch! Not only does this keep you and your puppy safe, but it will stop your pooch from getting distracted from the hustle and bustle of the local neighborhood.
