Parkside, also known as the Daffin Park-Parkside Historic District, is a smaller, more residential neighborhood located in Savannah, Georgia. More than half of this neighborhood is composed of Daffin Park, a large, public park with a variety of amenities. The other half, however, is largely residential and is composed of standalone, single-family homes. Beyond the park and the residences, there is not much in this neighborhood except for two churches, one gas station, and a local chiropractor's office.

Savannah, Georgia is a historic city; one of the oldest in the state of Georgia and in the country! It was the birthplace of Supreme Court member Clarence Thomas, writer Flannery O'Connor, Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low, actress Dianna Argon, and more famous faces. Beyond its famous residents, Savannah is also home to a variety of museums, institutions of higher education, historic landmarks and sites, well-known parks, a growing local food scene, and many boutiques to shop around in!

Parkside is a great neighborhood to explore with your pup. This beautiful neighborhood has plenty of well-maintained sidewalks, many of which are lined with small grassy patches and beautiful, large, mature trees. If a walk through the residential neighborhood isn't your cup of tea, you and your pup can explore Daffin Park, including the small dog park on the eastern side of the area. Finally, many of the residential streets are well-lit, so you and your pup should feel comfortable and safe, even when the sun is down.

Additionally, Parkside is a very flat neighborhood like much of the greater Savannah area. You and your pup won't have to strenuously navigate large inclines.

The boundaries of Parkside include East Victory Drive to the northeast, Bee Road to the southeast, East 53rd Street to the southwest, and Waters Avenue to the northwest. Waters Avenue, one of the neighborhood's borders, has the majority of the commercial spaces in Parkside, so traffic may be heavier in that area.

Half of this historic neighborhood is a park! Daffin Park is an 80-acre greenway with a baseball stadium for the local minor league team, a swimming pool, tennis courts, football and soccer fields, a small pond, and a paved walking path. However, most importantly, Daffin Park is home to a small dog park! Daffin Dog Park is located on the eastern side of the area off of Bee Road and has three fenced-in areas: one for small breeds, one for large breeds, and one specifically for running around and playing catch or fetch! For the pups, there is access to drinking water, shade during the summer, and swimming tubs during the hot summer months. For our human friends, there are a few benches and picnic tables to relax at.

While there are no other parks in the Parkside neighborhood, other parks within walking distance include Solomons Park, Theus Park, Tiedeman Park, and Baldwin Park.
