Washington Park is a small neighborhood in northeast Iowa City, Iowa. Its borders are defined by Rochester Avenue to the north, Court Street to the south, 1st Avenue to the west, and Westminster Street to the east. The neighborhood has a very suburban atmosphere because it is mostly residential and its streets are lined with well-maintained lawns and pleasant homes.

Iowa City experiences the typical weather of the American Midwest, except its location in the northern part of the country makes its summers milder and its winters a little colder. The temperatures average low in the high teens in the winter time and in the summers, the highs usually only go up to the mid-80s. If you decide to walk your dog on one of the colder days of the year, make sure you take the proper precautions such as a light jacket or a scarf to keep both of you warm.

Many people assume that Iowa is a very flat place, but that is only true for some parts of the state. The terrain in Washington Park varies a lot depending on where you are, but for the most part, it is moderately flat. There are some places near the western border of 1st Avenue where you will encounter some small hills, but these are fairly unusual for the majority of the region.

You are not likely to deal with much foot or street traffic in this part of Iowa City, even during normal rush hour times. Washington Park is very removed from most of the activity near the city and although there are many commuters within the neighborhood, the area is a far cry from a congested part of town. If you avoid the borders of the region, you will be able to avoid any traffic issues that could potentially crop up from time to time.
