I've always been around animals and dogs since I could walk, and when I was old enough to work I knew there would be no better fit than working with animals! I have volunteered at a shelter and worked professionally with animals in a retail environment. Due to a heavy school schedule I had to leave that job but now that Wag! exists I can still work with pups!

I grew up with a beautiful Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd named Annie, and also took care of my next door neighbor's Italian Greyhounds almost every day from middle school to high school. I moved into Chicago after high school and became a freelance film director/editor. After a few months in the city I got a job with a local dogwalking company for about 8 months - definitely my favorite non-film job I've ever had. I moved to LA and NYC for a while, but I'm now living in Pilsen and am looking forward to biking around and hanging with pups again!

Dog Walking in Bloomingdale

Bloomingdale is a village in DuPage County, Illinois located approximately 25 miles west of Chicago. Bloomingdale was one of the first settlements in DuPage County, and many of its original, historic buildings are still standing. The best part about Bloomingdale is that it welcomes doggie visitors with open arms, and provides two veterinary clinics to keep pooches in tip-top shape.

If you and your pup are planning on stopping by Bloomingdale and need a place to rest your paws, you'll have plenty of choices when it comes to pet-friendly lodging. Both Residence Inn by Marriot Chicago Bloomingdale and Courtyard Chicago Bloomingdale welcome pets, but you should contact the hotels for information on pet fees and restrictions.

This village also offers several places where you can grab a bite to eat or a coffee in the company of your canine companion. Rooster's Barn & Grill is a great place to enjoy some classic American fare. For the pizza fans, check out Pizzeria Antica or Pronto's. Looking for a light bite? Head to Potbelly Sandwich Shop. There are also a couple of pet-friendly chain restaurants in Bloomingdale, including Five Guys and Chipotle Mexican Grill. All establishments welcome leashed doggie diners at the outdoor tables.

If you and Fido need a little time in nature to relax and recharge your batteries, head to Greene Valley Forest Preserve. It's located approximately 20 miles away from Bloomingdale, but the drive is well worth it. Within the park, you'll find a dog park which is separated into two areas for small and large breeds. The only downside is that you need a permit to enter. Be aware that there is no water in the park, so you'll have to bring some. Bring poop bags as well to keep the park as clean as you found it! Leashed dogs are allowed to explore the rest of the preserve, including some of the hiking trails.

If you are in the mood for something other than grass and parks, visit the Moraine Dog Beach and Park. To use this beach, you first have to register at the Heller Nature Center and provide proof of vaccination for your dog. The beach is around 30 miles from Bloomingdale, in the eastern part of Evanston. The beach and park are very clean, so make sure you bring bags and do your part to keep it that way. On weekends, it can be a bit crowded, which is good to know if you have a shy pup. There is a shower and a hose next to the parking lot where you can rinse the sand out of your doggo's fur.
