Brynford Park is a very tiny neighborhood in Chicago’s North Park Community. Almost entirely residential, this sleepy little corner of Chicago is a nice place to take your dog for a leisurely walk. While there is little in the way of amenities, step outside the neighborhood and there is plenty of things to catch your attention. There are ample greenways surrounding the neighborhood, leaving lots of opportunities for walking with pet supplies, grooming, and veterinary services just a few blocks to the south. Weather is typical with walking possible spring through fall. You might find the summers a bit hot and humid, but walking in the morning will cure that problem. Winters are a bit more problematic with cold temperatures, snow, ice, and wind. Many people simply dress for the weather and walk anyway, but make sure you keep walks short when necessary and that your furry friend is protected.

There are no hills in Chicago, so expect flat terrain. For some walkers and their pups, this is good news. Lack of hills means easy walks for arthritic joints and other health issues. If you want more of a workout, start thinking about ways to make your daily walks a bit more challenging. There are weights that can add resistance as you walk and a backpack packed with their favorite snacks and water for your four-footed friend can help improve their health. If you plan to stay in Brynford Park, you will have wide, level sidewalks with grass and trees on your walking routes. The areas are well kept and should make for a nice walking experience. Brynford Park is fortunate enough to be located in an area where there are many natural areas to go walking, but they may require a bit of a walk or drive to get to.

To the west is Forest Glen which is connected to LaBagh Woods by the North Branch Trail. This trail makes the perfect choice for those looking for a more challenging walk.

The north branch of the Chicago River runs through these greenways and you will find ponds, picnic areas, and even playgrounds to enjoy along the way. Finally to the west and a bit farther away is Legion Park. This greenway also follows a river with plenty of grass and trees, and has an abundance of paths and trails to enjoy.
