Living here offers access to a fair number of shopping opportunities, excellent restaurants to sample, and access to the Van Vlissingen Prairie. Beyond buying dog food at your local grocery store, you will have to drive a fair distance to the nearest pet supply store.
Sitting right on the edge of the lake means that you can expect winters to be cold and full of snow. Lake effect winds can be brutal and last for days at a time. Summers tend to be mild with plenty of sunny days for you to play in the parks and get plenty of exercise.

The Jeffery Manor community was constructed on the site of what used to be a waste slag dump site, along with many other forms of industrial waste. But, if you want to keep them from becoming boring, you will need to vary your walks by checking out different blocks to walk around and checking out the trails in the Van Vlissingen Prairie, Railroad Marsh, and Big Marsh Park.

If you follow the paths far enough, you will end up down by Big Marsh Park with its own share of trails to explore. What a great way to get your exercise in at least once or twice a week, if not every day!
